Human Beings are Brittle…Handle Them with Care! The rules of ‘game of success’ are changing. We are being judged by a new yardstick: not just by how smart we are but also how well we handle ourselves and our colleagues at workplace. The new rules of emotional intelligence focuses on personal qualities such as initiative, adaptability, persuasiveness and empathy. Empathy is understanding and sharing the feelings of others. It is imaginative sympathy of visualizing oneself in the position of other persons while counseling or training or treating them harshly. Today, one of the biggest problem within the world is emotional instability (WHO). The World Health Organization reported that out of three persons, who went to consult doctors for a common symptom got diagnosed with some form of emotional instability arising from anger, hatred, jealousy and depression. Besides damage to health, these negative emotions send wave of discontentment and uncertainty among team members and colleagues. Such people cannot be handled by prevailing management policy of ‘Carrot and Stick’—Reward and Punishment. People Management will be a challenge in future. All machines of one type work in a similar way, whereas every human being has different character which keeps on varying from time to time and according to the changing situations. Only emotionally strong persons with strong minds will lead future generations of emotionally disturbed people: family, friends, colleagues, workforce and country at large, and hope to build strong family foundation, a great career, a great organization, a great India and a better world. So nowadays, whenever you are dealing with any person, please remember that you are dealing with a sick (emotionally disturbed) person who needs to be handled with care.
